I would like to say thank you to Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt and Paul Roberson for risking their careers to stand up to the United Racist States of America

What is America ? Home of the brave and land of the free........ But terms and conditions will be applied

If today's performers REALLY want to honor their sacrifices, they will stop making smut movies and stop referring to their men and women as N.....s, B's, and Ho's in their routines, series, and movies. They want to excuse the behavior as keeping it "100" and as terms of endearment.

But a football player kneeling during the national anthem is disrespecting the flag and the troops. No, he does it to protest police brutality.

I think its so important for people to use their voices or platform; no matter how big or small to speak out against injustices in society so we can create a more just society and stronger union.

...That Nina Simone look like a no nonsense woman...she has this constant disposition like she can't wait to smack ur face if u talk shyt around her.

It's funny Tanika, how, we become targets of interest for the CIA, when speaking out. Even more duplicitous, is how we were considered to be communists when demanding that this country lives up to it's own credo.

Aside from his amazing singing and acting, I would've followed Paul Roebson based off his powerful voice. Dude seemed like a real Boss

I can’t imagine the fierceness of character required to speak out so fearlessly, without regard to their career or personal safety. ❤️

Eartha Kitt was a beautiful and wonderful lady. I had the extreme pleasure of talking to her for over a half hour in her dressing room when she was at FAU.

Eartha Kitt is amazing. I love her so much as Yzma! But Julie Newmar was the OG Catwoman. Eartha was the second actress to play Catwoman. Eartha’s version of Catwoman is amazing, but she wasn’t the first. I wish Eartha had as many opportunities as Julie certainly did over the course of her career. Eartha was an incredible talent & it’s sad to think of all she would’ve done had she not been shut out for years. This sadly still happens a lot these days not as much due politics I think, but due race & gender. Octavia Spencer from “Hidden Figures” has been very outspoken about the lack of roles for African-American women in Hollywood.

What is it with the CIA targeting anybody who holds an opinion in support of the under-served, downtrodden, disenfranchised citizenry? Must be because the government doesn't want these people helped! I understand they did the same thing to Billie Holiday, forcing her deeper into drug addiction and an early death.

I remember most these actors or performers and when they were outspoken some of them got blacklisted or weren't given good rolls I respect him for speaking out actually I love them for speaking up and standing up for what they thought was right more people need to do that but they're afraid of repercussions if you don't speak out things when I'll change does not matter whether were black white brown red we're all the same when it comes to blood

Now we have Colin Kaepernick who was blacklisted for literally talking about social injustice. These people did great work and were targeted when calling out the b.s.

You have to carry on. Yes, you. Racism is on the rise again.

I'm always thankful for the steps and actions our ancestors took for us. The accomplishments established because they fought for our rights. To risk their safety and well-being to be courageous for the future generations, we owe them for just the simple opportunities we have today. I'm always proud to see and learn about our heritage, good and bad.

I am so impressed by the character and strength and brilliance of these leaders in civil rights!!!! And I am so proud of the fighters today that continue to create change for the better. Keep it up, as will I.

Sandra Pepper-Lopez Hart all black people who have been black balled by media and risked everything. Similar to our discussion that the media doesn't care who you are

These are the trailblazers that stood up for what they believed in no matter the cost. Because they laid the platform for all of us to speak in different venues to show the injustices in the world of minorities. For which I am tendentiously grateful. Due to them I may speak the words to empower others to speak their words of injustice for those who can't speak, so they can find their way to speak.. May we all find their to speak so one day we will not have to speak about injustice about anyone ever again
