This is a Afghan dumpling dish I make ; it’s called Mantu. This version is made with ground beef , onions and spices, served on a bed of garlic yogurt with a tomato, turmeric sauce with more ground meat, mixed veggies, Chana dal beans( similar to yellow split peas) sprinkled with dried mint. There is also a version made with no meat filled with mixed green herbs, it’s called Ashak. This dish takes dumplings to a whole nother level! Check it out!!!

Mantu from the Hijazi region of Saudi Arabia. Much of our culture in Hijaz came from religious pilgrims who brought food, music, clothes, and philosophy with them. Our particular style of mantu was picked up from Turkmenistan/Tajikistan/Uzbekistan. Steamed of course, but always with meat (either beef, lamb, or camel).

We make Khinkali In Georgia, really delicious dumplings made of twisted knobs of dough, stuffed with meat and spices. It is considered to be one of the national dishes of Georgia.

Its funny how all of them just prepare the stuffing and use supermarket dough, while the secret is to prepare good dough - its the flavor of person's cooking. The real deal is for the dought to be tasty and good even without a filling. For example i use only water, salt, flour, garlic and olive oil to prepare my dough. My great-grandma uses egg yolks and a bit of milk, but skips garlic. My grandma and my mom both do it in even different way in ingredient proportions.

can i just say this is a very well done video! it considers all of the different cultures around dumpling and educating everyone that dumpling isn't just one type of 'asian' food. Also taught me about Nepalese momos. Please make more videos like this and inspire other videomakers to do the same!

I come from a Polish family and for special occasions my mom would often make pierogi. I remember one of the first times I saw her make it, we were at her sister's house, and her sister's place has TONS of counter space so there was peirogi sitting EVERYWHERE while she was waiting to boil it. I tried it for the first time there and adored it. My brother, not so much. I want to learn to make pierogi and make some for her like she used to for me.

These are “coltunasi”, my Northern Romanian dumplings filled with cheese and potatoes and covered with fried onions!

Well I'm black American and our chicken and dumplings go hard. It's a bit different from y'alls because we put all the ingredient inside a pot and then toss the dumplings inside with it instead of putting the ingredients inside the dumpling. Just thought I'd chime in.

It is amazing to me that every culture has a similar type of dumpling.... Every culture every nationality, every region of the world.... Maybe we all arent that different ✌🌎 ❤

I’m a Nepali we do not use turmeric or Garam masala! With the minced meat (chicken, pork, beef) we use onions , ginger paste , corrainder leaves, onion leaves if available, salt to taste and mix it and wrap and steam it. Have it with various chutney. Giving turmeric or Garam masala or any weird spices to the mix is a blasphemy!!

Vareniki or varenyky were made with usual for Ukrainians cottage cheese, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, boiled beans, mushy peas, fruits and even flour. Flour fillings were especially popular in Poltava. The dough for varenyky was made of fermented milk products with buckwheat, rye or wheat flour.

What on Earth is a dumpling wrapper!? I'd like to have a go at making these, but I'd need to know what was in the dough. British dumplings are nothing like this: suet (usually beef), flour and water mixed into a dough, shaped into balls and dropped into a stew or casserole. Proper comfort food!

Aw I was hoping someone finally made a video about dumplings across ethnicities... Pierogi are Polish dumplings. Ravioli are Italian dumplings. Pelmini are Russian. It's not exclusive to Asian culture, just like how noodles are everywhere! And I think that's pretty cool

In Austria, the most similar we have are "Kärtner Kasnudeln" they're filled with a mixture of curd cheese, potatoes, mint and chervil :) They are simmered and we serve them with 'brown butter' :)

Fantastic! The first guy was confused with his heritage, the second couldn’t even pronounce “guotie” properly and the third wasn’t even from Nepal!
