Its the way animals are tortured and killed these days thats the problem. We were put on this planet to protect and respect it.How can i as a human being with compassion and a heart eat sumthing that has been tortured. Its not right. Its not what God intended

Farm animals would cease to exist. They have been bred & domesticated for the sole purpose of human consumption. They will die out completely with the introduction of these new "progressive" attitudes. Is it better to live on a green pasture & be slaughtered or to never have lived at all?

the only reason millions of farm yard animals are on the planet is for human consumption what do you think would happen to the millions of cows, chickens, pigs, sheep if human stopped eating them they would just be released in the wild to live happily ever after, Those type of animals would virtually disappear as they would become a luxury to keep them, for certain people its not just easy to drop meat yeah the western world consume meat at a crazy rate but certain parts of the world millions would die without meat , certain tribes in the Africa's or Arctic circle have to go as far as drink the blood of the animal to just survive

the comment section is so negative. bummer. one of the downsides to social media. but keep it up, branson. way to take us closer to that elusive "civilized society".

So you are praising the substitution of real food made from nature, with processed food (that tastes like meat)?!!!!

Branson’s just a ruthless businessman..... & feels the zeitgeist of veganism.... & the big profits to be made. That’s why he’s moving in on the privatisation of the NHS here in the UK.... & is suing some cash strapped Health Authorities for ‘loss of earnings’ by Virgin Care right now! What a lovely, kind, ethical & loving chap he is eh??? 🤬

What about killing people for profits like he does? I am a vegan so I can only welcome other vegans and I think animal lives to be very often (always) more valuable than human lives. But he,with his Virgin(doesn't)Care, can't really preach anything. He is only interested in profit and quite frankly, if he likes to do the random good action, it weights nothing in my book, nothing at all. I completely agree with David Fallon. This man is not an example any vegan should list.

STOP EATING MEAT - end of story. It’s old fashioned, barbaric, cruel and unnecessary- stop keep going on about protein etc. We are in the 21st century - there has never been so many choices of alternative foods, supplements etc. Excuses, excuses

jennifer---meat free for 9 months---its not as hard as i thought it would be but its so satisfying to know its one more way to love animals not support torture

For those of your worried cows will take over the planet if we don't kill them. No one expects an overnight change, we are talking 20-50yrs realistically. So all it means is once the farmers are ready to switch over to farming something else other than live animals, they simply stop breeding animals. And yes, that will mean there aren't farm animals, but I'm sure people will make farm sanctuaries to preserve the species, we don't need very many, they're not good for the environment, and as people said will serve no purpose. There will still be wild cattle in the environments they naturally came from too, before people bred and modified them into domestic animals.

The sooner we stop killing animals for food and other products the better. I hope I live long enough to see that time.

Look, I understand the legitimate benefits that curbing our meat eating would have on our health and environment. But the ‘norm’ by 2030? Bahaha don’t make me laugh, that is textbook Western naivety right there. You do realize not all cultures care about ‘animal rights’ nearly as much as progressives, right? To think that other cultures, especially those of the East will just up and change thier tradional diets is ludicrous. Any attempt by the West to change that will be met with harsh criticism, “Clash of Civilizations” style. PS: I enjoy red meat in moderation too, screw you.

Thumbs UP to Richard Branson and I totally agree with him. We will look back some day in SHOCK; as to what our country considered meals on our plates!!!! ......not to mention how it was accomplished (slaughterhouses).... The sooner our children are taught about the "reality" of the meat industry......the easier it will be for them to make the change!!!! Thanks to Richard for your Voice for the voiceless!!!!!

Love this! But not to be a buzz kill - why doesn’t Virgin Arline’s offer vegan dinner options on their inflight menu?

Be careful- the alternatives my be full of chemicals and ingredients that are so processed that they are nutritionally empty. I am a vegetarian and I would rather know that my veggie burger is wholesome than try to create more"meat" flavoured junk food. We just need to get past the addiction to meat. That often comes from seeing the horrible conditions in meat "factories" where animals are slaughtered in horrible ways. It worked for me......

I was reading about this plant based 'meat'.. Beyond burger...it's coming to the UK don't know when...I was reading about a very elderly American lady who has been vegan since early 70s...she was talking about this 'meat'... Saying how delicious it was... Hope it gets here soon... If anyone can do it...Richard Branson can influence this...

Educate yourself people, being vegan is not just saving the animals. It’s saving your own body from many diseases. Just try it for yourself for 3 months and feel the difference. “Animal protein/animal whatever is needed for you to be healthy” bullshit is proved wrong by millions of people, and on contrary you better stay away from animal products for your own wellbeing.

He's trying to buy parts of the NHS here in the UK, and tried to sue them when he wasn't able to get everything he wanted. It's nice to have a big name get behind this cause, but he is no hero.

Well technically the populations of pigs, chickens, and cows on this planet are only so high BECAUSE we eat them. If we stopped eating cows then we would stop breeding cows, seeing that the modern cow could never survive in the wild it would just go extinct. We've bred them to be way too docile, with no camo, way too big to be fast- put them in the wild and coyotes would be happy.

Sounds like a good plan and I’ve heard the burgers taste delicious, but curious about the “gum arabic” and “methylcellulose” in the product and their health effects.

Can’t stand this man...biggest crook going...it’s all about the money for him...pay your taxes and leave our NHS alone twat!!!

I wish this could really become TRUTH in the near future to stop breeding animals to murder them later for humans to eat. 😰

Keyword: investing He's making a strategic business move to make money, not for animal liberation. Richard Branson isn't vegan. Are we gonna forget that he sued the NHS, extorts the public when it comes to the railways and is all for privatisation. Stop idolising this capitalist for trying to make money from vegans. Veganism will not come at the hand of the rich; they are in it to make money, not in it because they are ethically driven.

So this was a free (?) commercial for Mr. Branson. Will his new "designer meat" be affordable for the masses or just a select few who will be able to pay dearly for the efforts put into developing such a product? Will it promote a healthy diet, easily and quickly prepared meals at a low cost for an inner-city family of slender means? How about developing countries? Anybody knows?
